HP Marine Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil (formerly hp Injector®) features a re-designed label and packaging aimed specifically at marine enthusiasts. The formulation, however, has not changed; its durable synthetic base oils and MAXDOSE™ system of advanced additives minimize wear and deposits throughout the engine, as demonstrated in the new Marine E-TEC™ Field Study (G2968). HP Marine is designated by product code HPM; pricing remains unchanged. hp Injector (HPI) is available while supplies last.

Continued Growth Projected for Synthetics
The Freedonia Group projects higher equipment performance requirements and increasingly stringent environmental standards will cause U.S. demand for synthetic lubricants to grow by more than 8 percent annually to $7.4 billion in 2015. Buoyed by an increased number of vehicles on the road and the latest motor oil specifications, synthetic motor oil demand is expected to grow the quickest, increasing 12.4 percent per year to $3.2 billion in 2015. Demand for synthetic transmission oil and hydraulic fluids is expected to increase 11.5 percent annually to $955 million by 2015.
“Aftermarket sales of synthetic engine oils will be promoted by ongoing consumer education about the benefits of synthetic products and manufacturers’ recommendations for synthetic oils as part of regular maintenance,” said Freedonia analyst Bridget McMurtrie.

Growing Synthetic Motor Oil Market Bodes Well for AMSOIL Business Opportunity
According to Erika Vela, crankcase technologist with Infineum USA, North America’s premium synthetic motor oil market is growing 8 percent annually despite a flat-to-declining overall engine oil market. The eroding value of synthetic-blend motor oils is one contributing factor, she said. “The value of synthetic blend claims has deteriorated over time and is now on par with conventional claims,” said Vela. While synthetic blend oils are failing to resonate with motorists, the opposite is true of premium synthetic oils, increasing sales opportunities for AMSOIL Dealers. An increasing number of consumers favor premium synthetics due to extended drain intervals, increased fuel efficiency and better wear protection. “Premium performance has value for the consumer,” Vela said. AMSOIL extended-drain synthetic motor oils continue to provide motorists the best overall value, ensuring the rock-solid AMSOIL business opportunity continues allowing Dealers of all levels to achieve their goals.

California Agency Campaigns Against 3,000-Mile Oil Changes
A survey conducted by the California
Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) reveals over
40 percent of Californians still change their oil at least every 3,000
miles. The agency’s “Check Your Number” campaign, launched in November,
is encouraging drivers to change oil less often by adhering to vehicle
manufacturer-recommended drain intervals.
“That’s the thrust of our
campaign,” said CalRecycle spokesman Mark Oldfield. “Get people to
rethink this long-held belief, because obviously there have been such
improvements in both the products and the automobiles themselves that
have led manufacturers in many cases to recommend longer intervals
between oil changes. For us the campaign is really about making
information available and allowing people to make the choice that’s
right for them.”
