Posted: December 8, 2011 - Announcement
Briggs & Stratton, the world’s largest manufacturer of small
engines, approached AMSOIL for help. Their goal was to produce a
synthetic racing oil for their highest performance and most expensive
engines used in kart, junior drag, quarter midget and other racing
applications. AMSOIL was specifically chosen because of our technical
resources and quality reputation, and we delivered technology that
exceeded expectations.
This new oil will be sold exclusively through Briggs & Stratton, and
the company has announced its availability in early 2012 for the
upcoming racing season. They have elected to boldly display an AMSOIL
logo on the packaging to boost the credibility of the product.

Manage Your Retail Installer Account Information
With
the launch of the new Retail Account Installer Locator, a new set of
features is available on the Retail Account Information Administration
page under Services -> Retail Account Information Administration
in the Dealer Zone. The new tools allow Dealers to adjust their retail
accounts’ contact and location information for the new Installer Locator
at www.amsoil.com.
The AMSOIL Installer Locator connects customers looking for a
“do-it-for-me” oil change with an installation location that carries
AMSOIL products. To qualify as an AMSOIL installer on the mapping
service, a registered retail account must have purchased $500 in AMSOIL
products in the previous six months, and must have correct location and
contact information registered with AMSOIL. AMSOIL will use this
purchasing history to help ensure installers listed on the AMSOIL
Installer Locator have an adequate supply of AMSOIL products to serve
customers who find them online.
Please ensure all of your retail accounts that have the ability to install products on-site have correct contact and location information on file with AMSOIL, otherwise those accounts will not qualify for inclusion in the new Installer Locator. The Retail Account Information Administration page includes two instructional videos and a PDF instructions form to demonstrate the Installer Locator concept and provide guidance in using the administrative tools.
The administrative tool is also available to retail accounts via a link in the Retail Account Zone. It can be found directly under the Online Forms section of Retail Account Zone, and is entitled Retailer/Installer Locations Form. This form will allow accounts to self-administrate their location and contact information, and add additional information for alternate locations, provided they meet program qualifications.

Why are AMSOIL engine oils capable of extended drain intervals?
AMSOIL engine oils are formulated using premium synthetic base oils, and
the highest-quality additives, that provide extended-drain
capabilities.
Formulated with high-quality additives, AMSOIL engine oils
achieve greater cleaning powers, while providing better equipment
protection over longer oil drain intervals.
The unique synthetic formulation and robust TBN retention of
AMSOIL synthetic engine oils work to resist oxidation and neutralize
the acids that shorten the service life of other oils.
Its characteristic resistance to high temperature volatility
(burn-off) helps reduce oil consumption, while maintaining viscosity
over longer periods of time than other oils.
The importance of good-quality oil in your engine cannot be overstated. AMSOIL synthetic motor oils consistently outperform conventional and other synthetic oils in virtually every category of performance, including wear protection, extreme high and low temperature performance, foam control, viscosity retention, rust and corrosion protection, volatility and fuel economy. While other brands may have good performance in some of these areas, AMSOIL consistently performs at the top in every category. Drivers can have confidence knowing that AMSOIL motor oils provide maximum performance and protection.

Lower-Viscosity Oils Gain Market Share
Kline and Co. has revealed recent shifts in motor oil viscosity demand. While the 5W-30 viscosity comprised 51 percent of total U.S. demand in 2009, 5W-20 is quickly gaining ground. “We do see 5W-20 demand rising significantly from where it was in 2006, to just under 20 percent of the total volume,” said Kline Project Manager George Morvey. “This is really due to the Ford factory and service fi ll, the Honda factory and service fill, and to some extent Toyota. We do see demand for the 10W-30 and 10W-40 shifting and favoring the 5Ws.”
Kline also expects strong growth ahead for 0W oils. “We do see them poised for growth beginning in 2010, as Toyota and Honda shift their factory and service fill requirements away from 5Ws to 0Ws to meet stricter fuel economy regulations,” said Morvey. “That will certainly be something to watch, and certainly offer opportunities for suppliers and installers.”

Strong Demand for Synthetics
Although overall U.S. lubricant consumption has declined since 2006, demand for synthetic lubricants continues growing. While synthetic motor oil represented 5 percent of the motor oil market in 2005, it now accounts for 7-9 percent. Leading industry research company The Freedonia Group Inc. projects 7.3 percent annual growth for sales of synthetic motor oil through 2013 and 6.3 percent growth for synthetic hydraulic and transmission fluids. A study by Kline & Co., meanwhile, indicates synthetics’ share of the global lubricants market will hit 12.5 percent by 2019.
